Hermes: The Messenger of the Greek Gods

Front: Back:

His story:

Baby Hermes broke out of his cradle and stole his brother Apollo’s cows.
Apollo took Hermes to Their father Zeus to answer for it, but Hermes was too cute and charming he was able to get of of any punishment.
Hermes gave Apollo a lyre he had just invented as an apology and got the caduceus and set on Olympus as the god’s messenger.

Hermes is in charge of boundaries, borders and edges.

As well as this, he's also in charge of things that cross borders, messages,  travellers.
He is the messenger of the Greek god. His father, Zeus, often sends him to Earth when he has something to say to a person.

The symbols of the Greek God includes "the herms, the rooster, the tortoise, purse or pouch, winged sandals, and winged cap".
His main symbol is the "Greek : kerykeion" or "Latin : caduceus", which appears in a form of two snakes wrapped around a winged staff.
Hermes’ father is Zeus and his mother is Maia. The children of Hermes is Angelia and Pan.

Grandpa's Great Escape - Recount

Today I have decided to write a recount on the book Grandpa's Great Escape for the first 5 chapters.

In these 5 chapters the reader gets to know Jack, the main character, and how he loves listening to Grandpa's stories. World War II stories. How Grandpa risked his life to keep the people of Britain free. Grandpa is getting old and he is starting to forget things. Near the end, in the middle of the night, Grandpa ends up on the highest pint of the church spire thinking he is flying his spitfire.

David Walliams Biography

Today I have decided to write biography on my favourite author David Walliams.

David Walliams is a famous comedian, author, actor and a television activist. He was born on the 20th of August 1971. In 2012, he became a judge on Britain's Got Talent and he has acted on BBC One, sitcom Big School. David is a fantastic author for children with great silly imagination. He has always been compared to Dahl. He has published over 4 million copies in 2014! People say his stories are "well written, funny, touching". He truly is the new Roald Dahl, or modern Dahl.  "Dahl finally has a worthy successor" says the telegraph. The Sue Townsend, Guardian said "I absolutely love David Walliams' books... they will become classics".

Author's description : Most fun or hardest

Today I have decided to be the author, David Walliams, and to write the most fun or hardest part to write. I have chosen the most fun part and I am making it into a letter.

Dear reader,
The most fun part in ALL of my books is when Raj comes into the story. When I was growing up, the newsagent in my town was called Raj and his room was extremely messy just like the book! He always kept the biggest smile on Earth. In stories the scene where Raj comes up makes me feel happy and I love describing what he sells : for example, an expired piece of chocolate with no rapping and that has been eaten, I love being creative! Raj, the not-so-smart, messy, sweet, welcoming newsagent will never stop me from putting him in my books!
Best regards,
David Walliams.

David Walliams Q&A

I have decided to have a Q&A with David Walliams. These answers are from the internet on his website. ( https://www.worldofdavidwalliams.com/about-david/ ) and here is a link to his website!
I have chosen questions and answers that I thought were best.

Question 1 :  Have you ever experienced anything that has happened in on of your books?

Answer 1 : I was always last in the school cross country runs like Joe in 'Billionaire Boy'!

Question 2 : In your stories, Raj is always the newsagent, is he based on someone you know?

Answer 2 : Yes he was based on my real newsagent also called Raj. His shop was famously messy, and he always greeted his customers with a smile.

Question 3 : Many reviewers describe you as a modern day Roald Dahl. Who is your favourite character any of his books?

Answer 3 : I love the BFG. He is such an original character. He even has his own language. Ronald Dahl is a genius.

Question 4 : Have you ever had a writer's block, and if you have how have you come up with your inspiration?

Answer 4 : Sometimes just getting up from the desk and doing something different like making a cup of tea helps your brain start working again.

Grandpa's great escape blurb

This week I have decided to do a blurb on a book I'm ready called  Grandpa's Great Escape.

Jack is a shy 12 year old boy who prefers to play alone, no friends, no siblings, just alone. His grandfather, Grandpa, was a pilot in the World War II and Grandpa is the only person in history that makes Jack feel special to have as a grandfather. Jack goes to Grandpa's house every weekend and they watch the same movie about planes and the war and how Grandpa fought everyone! However he is getting very old now and very forgetful which isn't always funny...

Ratburger Poem

I am writing a poem this week on a book called Ratburger by David Walliams

Zoe is a little girl,
with a very clever mind.
She's in danger by three people,
and one of them is blind.

She has a pet rat.
who's called Armitage.
who's almost been cooked,
in Burt's garage.

Sheila's with the crisps,
the usual prawn & cocktail.
Whenever Zoe smells it,
she turns very pale.

Tina was a bully,
to that poor sweet girl.
But now they're best friends,
like a shiny glamorous pearl.

See You Again - Song

This week I am comparing a song to a book. I am doing Gangsta Granny.

See you again
[:Charlie Puth:]
It's been a long day without you, my friend
And I'll tell you all about it when I see you again
We've come a long way from where we began
Oh, I'll tell you all about it when I see you again
When I see you again
(Hey)

[Wiz Khalifa:]
Damn, who knew?
All the planes we flew
Good things we've been through
That I'll be standing right here talking to you
'Bout another path
I know we loved to hit the road and laugh
But something told me that it wouldn't last
Had to switch up
Look at things different, see the bigger picture
Those were the days
Hard work forever pays
Now I see you in a better place (see you in a better place)

Uh
How can we not talk about family when family's all that we got?
Everything I went through you were standing there by my side
And now you gon' be with me for the last ride

[Charlie Puth:]
It's been a long day without you, my friend
And I'll tell you all about it when I see you again (I see you again)
We've come a long way (yeah, we came a long way) from where we began (you know we started)
Oh, I'll tell you all about it when I see you again (let me tell you)
When I see you again

(Aah oh, aah oh
Wooooh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh)
Yeah

[Wiz Khalifa:]
First you both go out your way
And the vibe is feeling strong
And what's small turn to a friendship
A friendship turn to a bond
And that bond will never be broken
The love will never get lost (and the love will never get lost)
And when brotherhood come first
Then the line will never be crossed
Established it on our own
When that line had to be drawn
And that line is what we reach
So remember me when I'm gone (remember me when I'm gone)

How can we not talk about family when family's all that we got?
Everything I went through you were standing there by my side
And now you gon' be with me for the last ride

[Charlie Puth:]
So let the light guide your way, yeah
Hold every memory as you go
And every road you take, will always lead you home, home

It's been a long day without you, my friend
And I'll tell you all about it when I see you again
We've come a long way from where we began
Oh, I'll tell you all about it when I see you again
When I see you again

(Aah oh)
(Uh)
(Aah oh)
(Yeah)
(Wooooh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh)
(Ya, ya)
When I see you again
(Uh)
See you again
(Wooooh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh)
(Yeah, yeah, uh-huh)
When I see you again

I decided to choose this song because in this book and movie. The story starts off with Ben thinking his granny as a boring-bingo-cabbage soup old lady. Granny overhears ben talking to his parents one day so she thinks of something that entertains Ben. Granny decides to be a robber. At the end of the book, sadly Granny gets old with illness and dies. This song connects to the book because the two of them started dull in the beginning and ends being partners in crime. All the fun they have had. Gone.
